Objective
The Center aims to conduct de-novo and conceptually rigorous research in Humanities. The Center is primarily devoted to fundamental research in Humanities.
The Center seeks to nurture research in trans-disciplinary confluence between Humanities and Computer Science.
Looking beyond contemporary boundaries of knowledge, the Center in particular seeks to draw insights from the Indian analytical traditions and cultural practices.
Three broad Confluence streams –
(1) Ontological Engineering: Philosophy/Indic Analytic Traditions/History of Ideas
(2) Cultural Informatics: Arts/Culture/Aesthetics/History/Geography/Literature
(3) Development Engineering: Economics/Law/Polity/Values/Education
Niche Research Areas
THEORY – Construction, Evaluations and Critique of Fundamental Theories in Humanities: Conducting basic research in exact reasoning regarding mind, meaning, action, values, manners, aesthetics, media and morals. Initial focus is on formal ontology of Humanities.
ANALYTIC TRADITIONS – Advanced Study of Indian Analytic Traditions: Conducting basic research in darsana-s like Nyaya, Mimamsa, Samkhya etc. and prayojana sastra including vyakarana, itihasa, natya, alankara & sangita. Emphasis would be on the study of formalisms.
HUMAN DEVELOPMENT – Explorations on Values, Dispositions, Creativity and Development: Explore definitiveness and exactitude in human being, human conduct, human relations and resulting society and civilization. Initial focus is to provide research support to ongoing value education initiatives at IIIT and country.
CULTURAL INFORMATICS – Develop Cultural Informatics and Digital Humanities: Incredible cultural diversity is a unique Indian phenomenon that makes India an opportune cradle of Humanities. Plowing culture with ICT opens Pandora box for upcoming culture industry.

Major Funded Projects
- Visiting Scholars Programme at Centre for Computational Approach to Indian Analytic Traditions (2008-2011) (Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan)
- Sahapedia Society, New Delhi: Tata Group (CMC), IIIT-H and SAHA have come together and registered a Society “Sahapedia” with a aim to build a comprehensive online encyclopedia of Indian Culture, Arts and Heritage.
