DSSI FOR PILE SUPPORTED ASYMMETRICAL BUILDING: A REVIEWAuthors: Pallavi Ravishankar,Neelima Satyam Volume: 1 Volume Number: 2/3 Date: 2014-12-25 Report no: IIIT/TR/2014/81 AbstractSeveral attempts have been carried out to understa nd the foundation failures during earthquake type of transient loading and it has been found that the in teraction effect between soil and foundation is one of the important aspects need to be considered in the analysis and design. In this regard a literature survey has been carried out on frame structures supported on pile foundation which is in contact with more soil mass as compared to the other type of foundation system. In this research paper concept of dynamic soil structure interaction is introduced, and the research methods were discussed. With the reference of the several documents in the field of soil structure interaction a document of present and past literature has been made with the including a main focus on interaction of pile supported frames. This study focuses on the complexity and excessive simplification of the model for foundation system and structures, and should be carried forward for its significance. The review is carried out including analytical, experimental and numerical approaches considered in the past study. The perusal of literature reveals that very few stu dies investigated on asymmetrical buildings supported on pile foundations. I n this paper, an attempt is mad e to understand research carried out in pile soil structure interaction and research gap along with the scope of research has been identified to carry out the present research work Full article: pdf Centre for Earthquake Engineering |
