Women would not thought of operating a computer and internet by that time. They might not have envisioned that technologies provide opportunity to earn some money. Traditional technologies Radios, Telephones, Television and Community Radios led women to disseminate knowledge. Later, STD/PCO Booths, Internet Cafes gave them economic independence. Thus, ICTs drastically changed their lives to enjoy empowerment. Andhra Pradesh Government implemented various development programs focusing on Women especially. Shri N T Rama Rao the then Chief Minister concentrated more on initiating development programs for women to secure their support. Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWCRA) and Self-Help Groups (SHG) are two best initiatives in the State (Sakshi 2012). Later, Shri N Chandra Babu Naidu (1995-2003) introduced deepam, supply of cooking gas connections on subsidy basis. Adarana (support) for people of traditional occupations, Roshini (light) for religious minorities, Mundadugu (going forward) for scheduled castes etc are few women oriented programs (Krishna Reddy, 2002:879). Shri Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s (2004-2009) Abhaya Hastham, Pavala Vaddi and Shri N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s (2010-2014) Amma Hastham and Bangaru Thalli are another women-oriented programs introduced during their regime as Chief Ministers.
