Vaidya: A Spoken Dialog System for Health DomainAuthors: Brij Mohan lal,Prathyusha Danda,Manish Shrivastava Conference: The Thirteenth International Conference on Natural Language Processing (ICON-2016) Location Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), India Date: 2016-12-17 Report no: IIIT/TR/2016/56 AbstractIn this paper, we introduce Vaidya, a spoken dialog system which is developed as part of the ITRA 1 project. The system is capable of providing an approximate diagnosis by accepting symptoms as free form speech in real-time on both laptop and hand-held devices. The system focuses on challenges in speech recognition specific to Indian languages and capturing the intent of the user. Another challenge is to create models which are memory and CPU efficient for hand-held devices. We describe our progress, experiences and ap- proaches in building the system that can handle English as the input speech. The system is evaluated using subjective statistical measure (Fleiss’ kappa) to assess the usability of the system. Full paper: pdf Centre for Language Technologies Research Centre |
