Seismic Performance of Laterally Loaded Pile Group Using 3D Non Linear Finite Element Method SimulationAuthors: Younus Ahmed,Neelima Satyam Conference: International Conference in Advances in Analysis, Design and Modelling Geo Date: 2010-02-20 Report no: IIIT/TR/2010/185 AbstractIn seismic analysis of pile foundation, it is critical to evaluate the deformation property of soil and the response of pile member suffering large deformation. This paper presents a nonlinear Finite Element soil simulation of soil–pile model based on mohrcoloumb model and its elastoplastic side is expressed as a winklers-type beam model. The nonlinear behaviour of the group is studied by subjecting it to elcentro groundmotion. Both series arrangement and parallel arrangement of piles is investigated by taking a parallel and series configuration of the pile group .Detailed study on the response of the pile behaviour is studied by varying pile size, spacing, width of the pile group in the different soil conditions. The earthquake groundmotion is applied at 3m ,15m and 30m from the surface . The behaviour of the pile group is studied and results are compared with OpenSeesPL software (2006) .
