This sub area deals with identifying the theoretical underpinnings of various computational models that are known in the past and are emerging. Such results typically have a big impact on the particular research field by either unifying known theories, proposing new theories, or proposing new models of computation that can explain certain phenomenon. In this theme, theoretical aspects of several emerging computational paradigms are being studied. For instance, answers to fundamental problems in the theory of distributed computing such as reachability in the presence of adversaries are being studied. Similarly, new and interesting models for parallel computing are also being explored. Currently, work is focussed on the following topics in this theme:
* Theory of distributed computing * Theory of parallel computing, * Theory of secure computing Faculty
