Biological Vision

The perceptual mechanisms used by different organisms to negotiate the visual world are fascinatingly diverse. Serveral disciplines investigate how sensory, motor and central visual systems function and are organised. The area of biological vision aims to build a computational understanding of various brains mechanisms. We aim to use the understanding gained from this understanding to develop algorithms for low level vision and for recognition.

Specific activities in this area include:

* Low-level vision (eg. filtering)
* Texture and Shape modelling
* Perceptual Engineering
