M.Tech. (Bioinformatics)
About the
Program:
This is a two year advanced course driven masters' programme
with opportunities for project work in the final semester. Apart from core
competency courses for bioinformatics, this program provides a choice of electives
both from the biology as well as IT domains. Several of these electives are
project based, providing practical training to the students.
Objectives:
·
To
provide in-depth knowledge in the area of bioinformatics and computational
biology.
·
To
provide knowledge regarding the use of IT in the field of bioinformatics.
Advantages (for the
student):
·
The
students will become more confident with the computational tools and databases
– in terms of usage as well as development.
·
The
students will acquire sound basis for future research prospects.
Duration: 2 yrs
Eligibility: BE/BTech in
CS/IT/Biotech/Bioinformatics or Master's degree in Programming/Maths/Sciences.
Admission
Process:
The students from BTech (CSE)/MSc
(Maths) may take Computer Science/Maths
as subject paper, while the students from the Sciences background will have
CNSB as subject paper which comprises of three sections: Physics, Chemistry and
Biology + Bioinformatics, and students, depending on their background are
expected to attend any one Section as a major and another section as a minor
part. The questions will be multiple-choice.
